Musings

I ran into one of Andy's room old fraternity mates at Wild Waters and Andy and I ended up having dinner with him and his wife as his wife has just had their 2nd son. We have kept in touch over the years and enjoy each other's company randomly. I find it easy to catch up with them as does hubby.

They both aren't Christians, but that doesn't make a difference to Andy and I. We still mention how going to church is part of our week and make references to how Christ makes a difference in our week. It's not weird or uncomfortable. It made me think though, sometimes it's easier to relate to non-believers rather then believers for me. and I was introspecting why. I love hanging out with my Christ-follower friends and enjoy the depth of conversation and being able to share with them life challenges.

When you switch groups of people, it's amazing how there is a natural tendency for one to notice differences between the two. It seems, as a whole, being with Christians, one can attach expectations and manners of conduct that shouldn't be put on a person just because of the Christian association even though the manners of conduct are usually religious rules that don't have an actual Biblical base. I'm not referring to moral behaviors but just general social behavior.

Hope this makes sense to anyone

very interesting.... It actually has led me to thinking so much, I may post a blog about it soon.
Anyway, so you enjoy your non-christian friends better, huh?
I love all people, most of the time... but it has been a journey to get to that point. I wonder if people act different whether they are around their "christian" friends vs. "non-christian" friends. That is kind of where my blog post will go...

Sue and I have always tried to maintain one or two relationships outside the church. Though I wouldn't say they are preferable, they are certainly refreshing . . .

:) I knew I should clarify to everyone reading. I don't prefer non-christians to hang out with but I just notice a different feeling when I do. Not better just different dynamics. I value everyone of my christian friends probably deeper cause the spirit connection.

It's just interesting to switch groups and see the dynamics :)

Blogging can be challenging . . serious or sarcastic . . . what did it mean . . .

In this case, I knew that's what you were saying and I'm sure Laura was being a smart-aleck . . . I was just trying to be clear myself that we don't prefer one over the other . . . Long winded way of saying you didn't come across that way Erica . . . :-)

ooh good. Didn't want everyone at church to think I was being forced to attend :)

it makes total sense to me erica, and i agree with you. for me it is easier in some ways, but then i think it is more of a person to person basis rather than christian vs. non christian but as a whole i would have to say, non christian much easier.

Okay, I think plucky and I have become each other's official translators for serious/sarcastic. I was totally poking fun:)
